Experience the captivating journey of space history at the NASA visitor complex
In a groundbreaking move, the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex has unveiled the “Kennedy Entry Experience,” a 3,000-square-foot video wall that offers guests a glimpse into the history and future of space exploration. This mesmerizing display takes visitors on a six-minute journey through the first 60 years of the U.S. space program, showcasing the remarkable progress made in space technology and highlighting upcoming missions to the moon and Mars.
The video wall, which uses captivating technology to create an immersive experience, is narrated by the late President John F. Kennedy. His iconic speech, originally intended for the Apollo-era, takes on new significance as it accompanies images of NASA’s present and future activities in space. Through this powerful combination, visitors are reminded of Kennedy’s crucial role in committing the nation to landing humans on the moon and are inspired by his words as they witness NASA’s ongoing efforts to push the boundaries of exploration.
Replacing a 75-foot-long blue granite fountain that paid tribute to President Kennedy, the Kennedy Entry Experience now serves as the opening scene projected by the towering video installation. The display is positioned alongside a striking 3D sculpture of NASA’s insignia, providing visitors with a unique photo backdrop and setting the stage for their journey into the complex.
Sponsored by SNA Displays, renowned for their work in New York City’s Times Square and various sports and entertainment venues across the country, the animation for the video wall was created by the New York-based multimedia tech and design studio Blunt Action. This collaboration has resulted in a visually stunning display that not only captivates visitors but also serves practical purposes such as wayfinding, event advertising, and integration with the complex’s emergency system.
Beyond its current capabilities, there are exciting prospects for future enhancements to the Kennedy Entry Experience. Chief Operating Officer Therrin Protze reveals that the digital wall has the ability to stream live launches and other content, promising an even more dynamic and engaging experience for visitors.
The Kennedy Entry Experience marks a significant milestone in the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex’s efforts to provide an unforgettable and informative journey for its guests. By combining cutting-edge technology, captivating visuals, and the timeless words of President Kennedy, this video wall serves as a gateway to the wonders of space exploration, inspiring all who pass through its doors to dream big and reach for the stars.
