UFO Photo, EM Effects, Animal Reactions

Those who have been following my reports here know that I try to find sightings that last more than a minute. Anything less is open to misinterpretation. Mundane and terrestrial objects can appear strange in a fleeting sighting of just seconds. If the witness has a longer opportunity to observe the UFO, the better the chances it was something truly anomalous. Dr. J. Allen Hynek made a similar observation.

On December 18 of last year, a witness in Kelso, Washington reported watching a disk-shaped UFO for thirty seconds. The UFO was described as black, moving smoothly from side to side before flashing away. The witness estimated it was about six hundred feet in the air and traveling at around five hundred miles per hour. I will caution that these types of estimates are probably not as accurate as they could be.

According to the report on the National UFO Reporting Center website, the witness took a photograph that provided additional evidence. The UFO appears as a disk-shaped, black object seen through the branches of a tree and overhead wires.

Another intriguing report, also from the National UFO Reporting Center, caught my attention for a couple of reasons. First, I need to note that I typically have reservations about sightings that last for hours, as well as “repeater” cases where the same thing is allegedly seen on consecutive nights.

The witness, in Greensboro, NC said that beginning on December 12 of last year, he observed a bright, intense light hovering above the tree line. It was moving laterally with periods of hovering. He described it as pyramid-shaped with what appeared to be “tentacles” hanging from it. There was also some sort of black cloud-like area surrounding the UFO.

In both of the cases mentioned, there were reports of additional phenomena that lend credibility to the sightings. Specifically, the witnesses reported electromagnetic (EM) effects and curious reactions from animals in the vicinity.

EM effects, such as electrical devices malfunctioning or behaving erratically, are often reported in conjunction with UFO sightings. In the Greensboro case, the witness stated that his cell phone inexplicably lost power, preventing him from capturing clear photographs of the anomalous object. While not conclusive evidence, EM interference is a recurring detail in many UFO reports and is considered a potential indicator of a genuine phenomenon.

Additionally, both cases included accounts of animals reacting in an unusual manner, perhaps sensing something that the human observers could not. Animal behavior can sometimes serve as an independent line of evidence, as many species are more sensitive to subtle environmental changes or stimuli that may be imperceptible to humans. Here are some examples of how animals might react to a UFO encounter:

  • Dogs or cats becoming agitated, barking/meowing incessantly, or refusing to go outside
  • Farm animals like cows or horses behaving restlessly or attempting to flee
  • Birds taking flight en masse or abandoning their nests
  • Domestic pets displaying signs of fear or distress, such as whimpering or hiding

While not definitive proof, reports of EM effects and strange animal reactions can corroborate witness testimony and add depth to an overall UFO case. These additional details, when present, warrant closer scrutiny and investigation by researchers.
